The Best Laid Plans

 Sometimes I think I have an idea. I get so excited over it that I think about it all the time. I long for my free time so that I can work on my dream project and use my creativity. I want so badly to complete a beautiful garment that I can actually wear.  Most times I end up disappointed. It's a flop. Maybe I should pray before I begin. 

I love looking at the difference between Eliezer's faith and humility to God, when he prayed and asked the Lord to make his journey successful and in Jacob's similar journey to the same place to garner a wife. The Scriptures I am referring to are found in Genesis 24:13-49 in Eliezer's case and then in Genesis 29:4-12 for Jacob's. Eliezer had such dependence on the Lord and huge gratitude to the Lord for this good outcome. Jacob isn't noted as praying before reaching his goal. Upon hearing her name and seeing her for the first time, he weeps and kisses Rachel, but nothing is recorded of his gratitude to the Lord for this unbelievable triumph. Jacob is one of the Biblical Patriarchs and a man of God, but this early scene from his life shows his fleshly focus and immaturity, which, I believe most of us have at a young age. Why am I comparing my silly little craft project to these great men from the Bible? Because, even in the little things, I am choosing to depend on the Lord. This is such a small thing compared to Eliezer and Jacob's predicament. 

Several of my former projects did not begin with prayer and I think that's why they were disasters that no one would wear. Right now in your hearing, I dedicate this project to the Lord and I ask His help to successfully make a garment I can wear joyfully. Amen.
